#19 The Flying Brick

Post by Twokidsnosleep »

I am entering this sig with these kits
Image
Careful packaging from an all star manufacturing company
Image
She is a big, ugly monstrosity!!! 16 inch wings 15 inch body. Barely fits on my model mat
Image

Some ground crew and stuff to make a little diorama
Image
Image

Some historical stuff later
I hope the people running this sig know what the heck they are doing...seems like a bunch of unorganized half wits if you ask me

Nice one Scott, and as the actress said to the bishop, "my, that's a big one!"

Love that supply set, almost got that myself.

Best of luck! :th:

I, too am a fan of the Stirling. A deathtrap of a machine but a journeyman, unsung hero.

Cool beans, Scott.

I was wondering if a Stirling would show up, great choice. I personally think the Stirling is a lovely aircraft not ugly at all.

Ha ha, now worries.
I have been a hockey dad all weekend and now a super proud one :D
My kid made it through a junior B hockey camp to qualify for the main camp in summer.
Starting with 38 goalies first cut down to 18 through a skills evaluation, then cut again to 6 with game evaluations....and my boy made it through all.
Shut outs in all 4 games for him and he went in cold in third period of all star game at 2-2 and his team won 3-2 with so many man advantages against him, he played marvellous in the all star game. Not a puck went past him. Holy hell, he blows me away. I am a nervous wreck now.
Another AAA hockey camp coming up this weekend
The model building suffers a bit, but I am on top of the sig activities of others.

Hi Scott congrats to your boy you must be very proud.
That Stirling is a real antique mate think i built that back in the seventies tube glue and airfix paints in glass bottles days, the Stirling was a beast of a plane but was a big part of the war effort, was employed mainly as a glider tug and I think even a paratroop transporter.
Really look forward to seeing you wave you magic over this one mate.
Good luck and thanks for organising the group build mate.

Hi Scott, I didn't really understand all the hockey stuff, wasn't Puck in "A Midsummer Nights Dream..."? but I do gather that you are justifiably proud and that both you and your boy deserve a :th: :th: :th:

Thanks man, just a gushing father :shifty:
His camp interview said " you may not be the biggest, but you control your rebounds and the game very well and are positionally solid"
That translates into being in the right place at the right time so no acrobatics needed. Only one to go all four games with no goals scored on him.

Ok, right out of the gate and Airfix has me pooched

Step one, applying a decal for the instrument panel
Do you see a decal for the instrument panel in the decals?
Am I supposed to cut out that pathetic paper thing from the instructions and glue it on?
Seriously :bash: :wall:

So I have to go into super detail mode and make stuff, great

Cheers guys, thanks for the kind words
I have done a bit of work on the cockpit, made two instrument panels and am modifying the pilot seats
Photos when they look half decent
Managed to sneak a couple hours in over the weekend of crazy hockey

Some proof of work ;)
The blandest cockpit floor on earth

The start of modifying with new steps, seat railing and a new instrument panel

I have added side structure, rear steel plate and arm rests to both seats after this photo
It is coming along slowly

Nice subject choice, she will be a big ass beauty by the time you've had your way with her! :cheers2:

Don't hold back on the hockey stories mate, excellent to hear of your son's achievements and how proud you are. Big congrats to you both.

Thanks Jase :cheers2:
I have a four day weekend to move a bit forward on this brute. I did a bit of interior detail, but will try not to go too nuts
Hockey is on the low boil for this weekend at least...he needs some rest as there is a long way to go this summer. Solid three weeks in fact.
Of course his is on the ice now for his second skate tonight with the team he wants to play on so far.....some seniors need to move on for position to open up.
Lots more tryouts to come over the next few weekends but this W/E we will work on his Subaru together

Thought I better take a look and actually see how old the kit moulds were so I could anticipate fitment.
Uhhh, 1966 :wtf: this kit’s tooling is actually older than I am.

Having seen your video Scott you've clearly had a very hard life...

You're doing a great job on something so "ancient" as to have been around since 1966

Couple hours listeninng to live show repeat and worked on cockpit
Image

I think the paper instrument panel would have been better ;)
Image

Bit of concern for fitment as the cockpit floor seems warped
Will probably just cut off all the locators and fit it as I can
