LOL

I know what you mean ! Surprising isn't it ? a Revell Kit with a ALU barrel !!!
I built mine years ago and still think she is one of my best builds....

its an Older model and lacks in details in some areas but
still a good alternative to the More Expensive MENG one !
....

Only wish more Revell kits would turn out as good as this one did...

I have built this kit, went together surprisingly well. You can tell its an older kit mainly due to the chunkiness of some parts where they should be quite fine. Also I found the plastic to be very thick as well. Enjoy the build, they are awesome kits once built up!

I am building the Meng version just now. I don't think its anymore detailed really, just perhaps more modern detail, as in its finer, parts are more in scale etc.

Looking good though!

Update 2

So I manage to get some stuff done on the panzer 2000

I assembled the tiny bits and parts of the turret
Image

Then I started the gun assembly
Image
Smoke screen bits done...

The gun piece now glued it place. As I was afraid that the metal barrel was too heavy to be supported I glued em using super glue.
Image

Image

and this is how it looks like once the barrel was fitted it. I'll try to tackle the tinfoil part next.

I left the side skirts off and painted upper/lower hull, wheels, side skirts in the base coat separately. Painted the tracks and added rubber to the wheels. then attached the wheels, tracks and side skirts to the hull and covered over the wheels and tracks with paper and masking tape then went ahead with the camo.

Or a slightly easier way which is what I did was to just put the drive sprocket on the lower hull, glue the upper hull in place (you can't then get the sprocket off, but that's ok as it rotates on its poly cap). I than painted the whole hull, turret, wheels and skirts as sub assemblies. To get the camo to line up on the skirts, I just held them in place and marked where the pattern would go. Worked pretty well, and was nice and easy. You can rotate the sprocket as you paint it, to cover it all.

Second Final Update

Ok after some kicking I manage to get myself to finish the panzer 2000 so here is my progress hopefully I can get it done

The panzer received a black primer paint before the main one goes on....
Image

Image

Then I started to make the so called "canvas" for the barrel. I did it using a ruler and a blade. After glueing the first piece I then added a few more but in a smaller piece just to show the crumble part. Once that was dried up I then primed it up.

Image

Image

Image

After leaving it for a day I then started the tri-tone camo scheme. I did this free hand so it wasnt as accurate as the photo reference. This is how it looks like once all three paint is on. BTW I used Tamiya's Nato colours

Image

Image

Image

Image

Later at night I painted up the fine details , assembled the road wheels and came the tracks. It was a pita to glue the tracks as it wont stay still but
still I manage to tame the tracks

Image

Image

Here is how it looks like once it was dried in the morning. Now the remaining is the decalling part and a light weathering and it's done! Hopefully I can get it done by tonight
