Metro 2033 - Final Reveal

Post by Tiger213 »

So here it is, my final reveal in The End is Nigh Special Interest Group Build.

The basic idea comes from the book by Dmitry Glukhovsky and famous PC game. I wanted to build a vignette representing the life in metro and the atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic tunnel fights.

Both figures are from Black Dog, rats are from Plus Model, broken bottles from MENG and everything else is home-made. I used a drain pipe for tunnel section, 2 LED lights /both ligts are powered by 2 AA batteries hidden in the base/, wires, grain salt as stones, old rails from Trumpeter, rails sleepers from balsa wood, the spider webs from cotton wool, and some more stuff from my model "junk-yard" /like casette player from an IDF set, tank ventilation grills, etc/ .

The build thread: http://www.intscalemodeller.com/viewtop ... 77&t=21174

In 2013, a nuclear war occurred, forcing a large amount of Moscow's surviving population to relocate to underground metro stations in search of refuge. Eventually, the communities settled in the underground train stations developed into independent states.

THAT is an awesome job  :
For me, the base really brings it alive as it gives us the context; ie the where to what you have made comes from.
The modelling is superb and that context opens up and widens your audience to understand it or research it.
Standing ovation

That's fanstastic  really, really well done with both the overall concept and the execution - every time I look at it there's new details that jump out.

Love the rat up a drainpipe :)

Thank you guy very very much for your kind words and lovely comments. I'm happy you like my work.
This is the first time I've joined Special Interest Group Build ever. For me, it was challenging to think up an idea and to create the vignette. Altogether I've enjoyed it and had much fun.

I'd like to thank you all once more for your support and advice.

Well this is amazing. Aside from what's been mentioned already and the skill on display here, the rats really make this for me. There's some humor in them and I really enjoy them!

Also the colors are really well balanced and chosen correctly. It's not only pleasing to look at, but I think it reflects the color palate from the game perfectly.

Take a bow, sir.
