Hey guys!
Most of the painting have been done now so we closing in on the final leg of this build weathering and final assembly.
Mounted the horisontal stabs

Fitted and glued the gun pod

Coated the lenses of the KAB-500r before flatcoat

Assembly of the landing gear

Managed to fix the broken nose wheel gear - it's not perfect, but it'll work

Unmasking after the flatcoat....

Lost one of the HUD glasses

I will never be able to get that back without ruining the windscreen with glue
One of the ejection seats got loose too, but that's easier to fix

Weathering of the exhausts

A gentle weathering of the underside using pigments

Tiny landing gear doors...

Weapons!

....lot's of weapons!

Did a minimalistic oilwash weathering of the upper side, I want the aircraft to be in "mint condition" like on the reference photos

Airbrake on

Stay tuned

Re: Zvezda 1/72 Yak-130 "Mitten"
So... last post, guys!
It's time to wrap up this build
Canopy masking

Masking the inside too...

Painting the "inside" with XF-23 Light Blue

The outside with cammo colours

I tried to brushpaint the inside of the canopy (detonation cord), but it looked horrible so I gave up

I'm gonna leave it unpainted
..and there you have it!

Thank you very much, guys!

The Final Reveal photos can be found here:

I will make a YouTube video and put up on my channel later this weekend.
I have only built three kits from Zvezda, but my impression is that the newer releases are really good, almost as good as Tamiya and Trumpeter in that scale. If I compare the Yak-130 with Tamiyas 1/72 F-16CJ Fighting Falcon or Trumpeter 1/72 Su-33 Flanker D, the only shortcoming of the Zvezda is that the panel lines and some details are not as sharp as on the Tamiya. Also, the surfaces are not as smooth as on Tamiya kits. But the kit buildup (design) of the kit is as good as Tamiya and Trumpeter and Zvezda includes figures and lots of weapons.
The B&W instructions and paint callouts are a bit difficult to follow, but it's not a deal-breaker (atleast not for me).
I can really recommend this kit.
