Here’s my attempt a building Airfix’s excellent 1:48 Gloster Meteor F.8
The only aftermarket was the Quinta Studio 3D decals, IP & seat harness.
I opted not to show either the canon or Derwent engine bays, both are available and I’m sure would make for an interesting display, perhaps next time?
There’s only one area to be extra carful with during the build and that’s the front landing gear/nose section, for some reason the lending gear was too far forward, not by much (just enough to be annoying), and that caused a gap where it fitted and also meant I couldn’t fit the front landing gear cover without cutting it down. The more I think about it I’m sure I fitted the cockpit sub-assembly a smidge too far forward?, so these issues were self inflicted.
I chose to portray an aircraft from the short lived Evergreen Display Team, Collage of Air Warfare RAF 1963-64.
MRP and Tamiya (LP-11) paints were used for the camo’ and ‘high speed silver’ colours.
