Wrinkly old Lotus 79 limps across the finish line

Post by Twokidsnosleep »

Well hardly the gleaming British Rcing Green beauty I had hoped for, I have stuffed up the clearcoat
Image

Maybe it is fitting for a geriatric beast to have catastrophic wrinkles in most of the decals...no she should be brilliantly shiny

In better days with her clothes off, I shall always remember her like this

Sorry to let this kit and you guys down, it deserved better.
My quest for the perfect clear remains unfulfilled

Looks fantastic to me! :th: :th:

The level of detail is superb and no matter how much you zoom in, it looks just like the real thing. Great work! :th:

I happened...happened to be a moron that is
I thought the 2K, being an automotive product, would be ‘hot’ and harsher on the decals
So I chose to use the GX 122 clear with MLT on the decaled Lotus and try the 2K on the no decal Ferrari
Apparently it should have been the other way around

Harsh lesson learned :wall: :bash:
Will try not to stuff up the Ferrari now with 2k ;)......which I did :wall:

Don’t beat yourself up mate. Plenty of skills on display here. And:

Rome wasn’t built in a day
He who never made a mistake, never made anything
Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
(Insert cliche here....)

Just see it as clearing the way for a certain build starting 1 May.... :th:
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

It has happened to us all, I evhave a body with 2K on it and fried decals...so it is hit and miss. Looks great by the way and love the last pic with body panels removed..

Still a cracking build in spite of the final coat mate - the amount of detail you managed to cram in under the covers is simply astounding.
