DONE! Chiefs Revell 1/12 Shelby GT500 pos

Post by chief5437 »

Hi fellas!

calling this done. after a good while with no mojo, i wanted to start the new year with a gentle start. i decided that id build this oob, other than the paintwork, and just let things slide and enjoy the build.

all went swimmingly, until i started making stupid mistakes! i left car polish in panel lines, then put clear coats on, forgetting to clean said polish off first! i changed body colour half way through after already painting and installing the interior. i fitted the glazing without cleaning my greasy fingerprints from the inside. i fitted the body without cleaning the dust off the interior. i discovered overspray and paint spots all over, after i had clear coated the bodywork. i cracked the decals after gloss coating....

the list is endless, lol!

however, i stuck to my guns, and didnt let it get my down too much, and soldiered on. tbh, i was starting to lose interest, im really not a car guy. but im looking forward to some of the upcoming gb's/sig's, so i had to get it finished.

the kit itself is pretty good, its huge! im sure it could be made better by a more patient build. my only gripes with the kit are....

not being able to angle the front wheels.
no door windows
vague fitting of quite a few parts. ie. no locating pins or sloppy fit.

anyway.... enough of my drivel, heres the damage.

i actually like the colour on this pic, the way it changes for light to darker orange. just a shame it shows up all the dust i failed to clean off before putting the body on, lol!!

and this shows why i dont build cars for a living, the wheel fell off, lol!!

well, there you have it, not a very good finish for the first gb of the year, but its still a finish. and more importantly, i still have a hunger to get building again. roll on the next gb!!

thanks for looking guys! :cheers2:

Looks GREAT :thumb2:
The orange/black scheme is striking as heck

Wheel fall off is Ford engineering
Now if you can only get the passenger foot well to leak from a plugged cabin air filter it will be 100% accurate...ask how i know  :D

I was going to ask what the pos at the end of the title stood for, but I really do know ;)
You did a fantastic job with a kit and situations that fought you along the way :thumb2:
