Zvezda SZU-23/4 Shilka reveal

Post by RangerNeil »

I am calling the Shilka finished now folks.
Zvezda 1/35 ZDU-23/4 "Shilka" mobile A/A battery of the Soviet Army. Additions to the kit are replacement metal fun barrels from Armata Models in Moscow and Friul metal tracks. Painted with Vallejo AV Acrylics and finished with Ultimate "Sand" wash, covered with Humbrol Acrylic silk varnish
Probably one of the worst kits I've come across and certainly not up to Zvezda's usual standards but it is done.
Finished as a vehicle of the Soviet 40th Army based at Alikheil, Afghanistan in the summer of 1987.

I think you've done a great job on a kit that was really poor, well done for sticking at it!

Thanks guys!! :) Got to admit this one came perilously close to a case of "hammer down" time - 5lb club hammer.... I like the finished kit though. :)

Great build Neil, a very testing one at times with top draw saves. The additions you've added really stand out mate
